The Middle Ages in the Modern World is a biennial conference about the ways in which the Middle Ages have been received, imagined, invoked, relived, used, abused, and refashioned in the modern and contemporary worlds.
Established in St Andrews in 2013, it has subsequently been held in Lincoln (2015) and Manchester (2017), and most recently has seen its first venue outside the UK in Rome in 2018. In 2020 it will return to the UK and be held in London, organised by Dr Claire Pascolini-Campbell, Dr Sarah Salih and Dr Simon Trafford on behalf of the Institute of Historical Research, King’s College, London and the National Trust.
